BREAST CANCER UPDATE

Over the past 5 months I have been training for the Breast Cancer 3 DAY. I will be walking 60 miles in 3 days with thousands of men and women in San Diego. On August 1, 2009, I walked my 300th mile in my training. I have been walking at least 5 times a week wherever I may be. My teammates and I have been pushing each other and it is nice to walk with them whenever I am home. We have found some new walks that have made it more interesting and also challenging for our bodies. Now that it is summer time it can be hard to bear the heat but we have been strong willed to push ourselves to go the extra mile. I have also raised 74% of my fundraising goal. I only have $600 to go! All of this has been made possible with great friends and family supporting me. The walk is only 3 months away and I am getting both excited and nervous. The walks have already started all over the country and everyone seems to be having a wonderful time. If you want to make a donation and help out my team and I- Taking a Stride for Boobie Pride, you can make a donation at www.the3day.org or click on the link below.

BREAST CANCER UPDATE

Help me reach my goal for the San Diego Breast Cancer 3-Day!
I've been spending the past few months preparing for the Breast Cancer 3-Day and this month has been a pivotal point for me. I've walked 130 miles since I registered in March. Depending on where I am in the world, and how much time I have between flights, I try to train as much as possible. I have been walking about 5 times a week, anywhere from 3-10 miles, whether outdoors or on a treadmill. This past week I was in Geneva, Switzerland and I was able to explore the country on foot thanks to their extensive bike paths. It was absolutely beautiful and rewarding.

This month I have also raised 50% of my fundraising goal. Thanks to everyone who has donated! I wouldn't be able to do this walk without you. For those of you who haven't donated, it isn't too late. No donation is too small and any amount will help. The net proceeds will support breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment through Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund. Your donation is greatly appreciated.

Two of my friends have decided to join the 3-Day walk as well. It has been great having a team to motivate and push each other on our walks and in our fundraising. We are planning some fundraising events over the next few months that we hope you can be a part of. I will keep you posted!

BREAST CANCER 3 DAY

Over the past few years I have always had a desire to walk in the Susan G. Komen 3 Day for Breast Cancer. Despite a hectic schedule, I signed up for the 2009 walk in San Diego Nov. 20-22. I will be walking 60 miles in 3 days and I will be camping out in tents with thousands of other people. I am really excited and I've been trying to train as much as possible, even if that means walking on a treadmill in my hotel. It has been a struggle trying to train in cities I'm not familiar with, not knowing what areas are safe and walker friendly. My goal is to walk at least 2 miles, 5 days a week with one long walk of 5 miles or more. 2 weeks ago, Carly and I walked round trip from Grandview to Swamis (Leucadia-Encinitas) which was about 6 miles- quite the adventure. We felt really good after and really enjoyed ourselves. I am hoping to raise $2,300.00 for the cause. I am walking in memory of my Grandmother who was a survivor of breast cancer when I was a child. If you would like to donate to the cause and help me reach my goal please follow the link below.
